Position: Utility Technician I/II - Collections (Underfill)
This position may be underfilled as a Utility Technician I - Collections or as a Utility Technician II - Collections depending on experience.

* Hourly rate for Utility Technician I: $21.79 - $33.14

* Hourly rate for Utility Technician II: $26.75 - $39.71

Performs a variety of skilled work to maintain water wells, chemical feeder equipment, pumps, motors, telemetering sensory equipment, treated water storage facilities, water distribution pipelines and related appurtenances, sanitary sewers for the collection of wastewater, pumping equipment for water and wastewater, and water and wastewater treatment plant equipment and operations.  Performs difficult technical and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities.  

May provide direction to peers and subordinates in performance of routine day-to-day work activities.

The ideal candidate for a Collection Utility Technician-II position would possess an ADEQ Grade-II Wastewater Collection certificate and will have an understanding of the wastewater collection system. The ideal candidate will have experience in the operations, repair and maintenance of wastewater collection equipment and infrastructure. The candidate will possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the tanker endorsement.

* Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations by streamlining work processes, decreasing turnaround times, and working cooperatively and jointly to provide efficiency and excellence in the use of City resources.

* Delivers outstanding customer service. Establishes and maintains open communication with all internal and external customers; to include co-workers, contractors, residents, and other City departments. Informs immediate supervisor of daily operations, important developments, and work activities.

* Adheres to industry and City safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures.  Provides services in accordance with government standards such as Bluestake, OSHA, and MAG.  Prepares and submits required safety records and reports.

* Executes routine and emergency operational, maintenance, and repair functions on equipment utilized in the wastewater collection division. Clarifies routine day-to-day priorities in the field.
Provides input to supervisors regarding performance reviews for UT I and self.

* Conducts daily inspections of wastewater collection infrastructure, lift stations, and related collections equipment; takes and records various equipment and processes readings; checks equipment and makes appropriate adjustments to regulate system flow and stability; and maintains records and reports.  

* Maintains wastewater lift stations.  Collects and interprets operational readings to maximize the efficiency of operation. Makes operational control adjustments and modifications to protect public health and to ensure system stability.

* Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Collection Division Senior Technician as assigned during his/her absence.

* Formal Education/Knowledge:  Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.
Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources.  Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

* Experience:

* Utility Technician II:
Minimum two years experience in a related field.

* Utility Technician I:
Minimum one year of experience in a related field.

* Certifications and Other Requirements:  

* Utility Technician II:
Valid driver's license, ADEQ Grade I Operator License in Collections, obtain a ADEQ Grade II Operator License in specific Collections, and obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 12 months of hire.
