Job Description Summary
Acts as a lead worker as directed and at the job site in the maintenance and repair of all City-owned buildings. Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and general repairs on buildings.
Responsibilities- Maintain buildings by performing needed repairs in plumbing, electrical, air distribution systems and carpentry.
- Assist in maintaining computer programs that deal with energy management, facilities security and work order requests.
- Provide leadership on tasks within their work disciplines; manage assigned Facilities Division programs such as standby generator, building fire protection, backflow systems and HVAC preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate work schedules, purchasing for the division and oversee parts inventory for their work discipline and other maintenance areas.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial facility maintenance or construction across HVAC, electric, plumbing or mechanical disciplines.
- Formal training or education in a skilled trade (e.g., community college, vocational or technical school).
- Experience using Microsoft Office and work order management software.
- Strong focus on quality workmanship and customer service.
- Formal education or knowledge obtained through advanced study or training beyond high school equivalency.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must possess a journey level certification in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical or carpentry within 12 months of hire.
- Ability to read work orders, instructions, blueprints and general correspondence.
- Ability to perform general math calculations and write reports.
- Leadership ability to oversee quality, training, instruction and scheduling of work.
- Experience with standard operating procedures and policy decision making.
- Vacation Leave – 14 days per year, increasing with tenure.
