DescriptionABOUT THE ROLE
The Maintenance Associate repairs, installs, and maintains machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments, following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings. They use hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and measuring and testing instruments. The role supports both maintenance duties and contracting service providers, and includes preventative maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Identify unusual sounds to detect malfunctions and discuss variations with supervisors or maintenance workers to diagnose and repair machines.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery using rags, brushes, and grease gun.
- Perform a 50/50 split between janitorial work and maintenance.
- Work at heights using a lift when required.
- Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts as needed.
- Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Assess procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
- High school diploma.
- Relevant licenses and certificates may be required.
- Courses in mechanical drawing, woodworking, electricity, and blueprint reading would be advantageous.
- Repair work experience.
- Physical strength and good hand-eye coordination.
