The Security Monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of personnel, facilities, and assets within the organization. This position involves implementing security measures, conducting risk assessments, and responding to security incidents to mitigate potential threats.
Essential Functions- Oversee facility access and guard property.
- Assist staff during emergencies such as fights, runaways, accidents.
- Use surveillance systems to monitor facility and grounds.
- Keep a log of all entries and exits.
- Conduct security walkthroughs to spot and address safety issues.
- Respond to alarms and warn visitors of rule violations.
- Prevent unauthorized entry onto property.
- Report safety concerns to program leadership.
- Contact first responders during emergencies.
- Inspect vehicles for damages, ensure operational lights, check tire pressure, and monitor warning signals on dashboards.
- Keep vehicle logs, ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and store gas receipts properly.
- Provide courteous assistance to contractors, third‑party agencies, employees, and visitors.
- Assist with oversight of children during recreation, meals, and relaxation times to build rapport.
- Keep the facility and vehicles safe, clean, and well‑maintained; perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Submit Significant Incident Reports (SIRs) as required by ORR, state licensing, and Vision Quest policies.
- Assist in evacuations due to emergencies such as inclement weather or natural disasters.
- Train new hires on role responsibilities.
- Attend required departmental, all‑staff, and training meetings to stay informed of policy changes or practices.
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety protocols and support service integration and program improvements.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination with the management team.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Google Drive) with ability to learn new software.
- High school diploma or general equivalent degree.
- Minimum of 1 year security monitoring experience preferred.
- Valid Guard Certification preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Flexible schedule (evening, weekends, holidays) to facilitate program services.
- Cleared tuberculosis test results.
- Must pass a drug test.
- Must provide proof of required vaccinations.
- Cleared background checks from appropriate entities, including Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive.
Physical Requirements
- May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds infrequently.
- Perform tasks that may involve standing or walking 50% of the day; sitting 50% of the day.
- May bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as necessary.
- Must be able to provide First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to perform physical holds as instructed in Crisis Prevention Intervention training (CPI).
