Driving Job Responsibilities

• Transporting H-2A workers to and from fields, housing, or other designated locations.
• Ensuring workers arrive on time and in a safe manner.
• Maintaining vehicles in good working condition (routine checks, refueling, cleaning).
• Complying with all state and federal traffic laws and H-2A program requirements.
• Transporting workers to and from work each day from housing.
• Driving workers to and from local grocery stores weekly for purchases.
• Logging times in and out for workers.
• Arranging pickups for specific groups on a regular basis.
• Complying with traffic regulations and ensuring passengers follow safety regulations.
• Notifying mechanics of vehicle problems and performing minor repairs.
• Performing routine vehicle maintenance (tire pressure, fuel consumption, etc.).
• Regulating heating, lighting, and ventilation for passenger comfort.
• Reporting any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Testing vehicle equipment (lights, brakes, horns, windshield wipers) to ensure proper operation.

• Valid driver’s license:
  Class B with passenger endorsement or Federal Class A, depending on vehicle size or state regulations.
• Minimum of 3 months of verifiable experience driving agricultural workers.
• Clean driving record, free of major violations such as driving while impaired.
• Familiarity with local area or designated routes.
• Ability to communicate with workers, often in Spanish or another relevant language.

• Harvest crops by hand and work in the fields for long periods.
• Pack vegetables in the packing house.
• Perform duties related to the production of herbs and vegetables, including hand planting, cultivation, and harvesting.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives.
• Till soil, apply fertilizers, transplant, weed, thin, prune crops, and apply pesticides.
