Role Overview

We are looking for a Waking Nights Support Worker to keep one of our young people safe  keeping eyes on them, 24/7, we can ensure this young person remains safe from harm.

Working with another Support Worker each shift, you will alternate each hour, ensuring this young person does not try to harm themselves. They are not at risk to anyone else, and with the support of our in‑house day team and clinical service, we are working to give this young person the support and help they need. In the meantime, we need someone like you to keep watch over them and keep them safe.

Working a 10‑hour shift including breaks, you will alternate between sitting with our young person while they sleep and doing other tasks in the home supporting the day shift with any necessary tasks.

This role would suit someone naturally caring and child‑centred. While previous experience of working with a child in care would be an advantage, we are happy to give you the training and support you need.

We hope this is a temporary situation so are open to you working with us on a temporary basis. We have other opportunities within the home should you wish to stay with us longer term but would be open to a casual or fixed‑term contract with you depending on your availability and needs. We can also be flexible on the rota pattern if you can let us know what your availability is and we can create a rota pattern around you.

We can offer part‑time or full‑time hours based on your availability.

This role is based within a residential care home for children. Sadly the home is not accessible by public transport and therefore you will need your own transport to get to and from the property.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 overnight support to a young person in a residential care setting.
  • Alternate one‑hour shifts with another Support Worker to maintain continuous supervision.
  • Ensure the young person does not self‑harm and is safe from harm.
  • Perform additional tasks in the home as required to support the day shift.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and interventions.
  • Support the day team and clinical service with the young person's care plan.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience working with children in care is an advantage but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo training and ongoing support.
  • Good communication skills and a caring, child‑centred attitude.
  • Reliable transport (own car) and willingness to work overnight shifts.
