Health Safety Environmental and Security Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Assist the HSSE Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining HSSE standard operating procedures and policies.
• Work with the HSSE Manager and departments to develop and execute the HSSE strategic plan (roadmap).
• Maintain inventories of various PPE and first aid supplies to ensure adequate supply is available and distribution is controlled.
• Participate in the design, purchase, installation, and commissioning processes of new or modified equipment to ensure adequate HSSE measures are in place. Also ensure that a risk assessment (JSA) and safe work instructions (SWI) have been completed.
• Utilize Synergi to co‑manage projects with the HSSE Manager and other departments so that action steps and time requirements needed are identified and managed, ensuring projects do not overtake daily duties, job responsibilities, and the position’s annual objectives.
• Support the HSSE Manager and department supervisors with the identification, submission, and tracking of corrective actions from hazard assessment tools such as facility inspections, SUSAs, Take 5s, Synergi cases, SAP work orders, and JSAs.
• Encourage and support people to stay involved in HSSE, e.g., leading safety meetings, using hazard assessment tools, participating in safety committees and audits.
• Coordinate facility and equipment inspections with departments to identify HSSE hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate annual departmental SDS review. Ensure MSDS Online reflects the chemicals the plant uses and review departmental chemical approval requests.
• Assist the HSSE Manager and other departments in developing, maintaining, and retaining training course outlines, materials, and records.
• Conduct or coordinate employee training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
• Coordinate and oversee qualification programs designed to ensure safe operation and inspection of equipment or machinery (forklifts, cranes, fall protection, etc.).
• Support the success of the Safety Team by supporting its mission, charter, goals, and operations.
• Maintain bulletin boards with current/relevant HSSE information.
• Maintain certification as the Radiation Safety Officer; ensure compliance with all applicable Federal NRC and DHEC Title B State regulations; monitor radiation exposure levels to employees and facility.
• Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist with injury case management and engagement with workers‑compensation agencies and medical professionals to ensure proper care of injured workers.

• BA or BS from an accredited college, preferred in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred Radiation Safety Officer certification.
• Training facilitator experience and knowledge of training software programs.
• Three to five years of wire and cable experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; organizational skills are essential.
