This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Catawba Community Mental Health Center (CCMHC), 448 Lakeshore Pkwy, North Lake II, Rock Hill, SC 29730

Under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, you will provide medically necessary nursing services to clients in assigned areas within CCMHC. Will also ensure frequent interaction with other community agencies and maintain positive professional relationships.

Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse:
  • Assess for & provide medically necessary nursing services including but not limited to nursing assessments and medication monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
  • Participate in planning, implementing & evaluating nursing services. Attend and participate in Treatment Team meetings/staffings, including staffing with MD vide medical testing for staff as required. Pursue continuing education and training. Maintain positive professional relationships with MHC staff, and community agencies, as well as clients and their families. Work to overcome the stigma of mental illness and mental health services by providing education, training and support services to the community at large.
  • Provide coordination & consultation for case managers and MD’s to meet the needs of the clients served including but not limited to medication needs, administering injections, and necessary coordination with outside resources regarding health care needs.
  • Collaborate with Treatment Team members in the coordination of education programs to promote client care continuity integrating psychiatric nursing services with other clinical services. Provide nursing education to clients and their families regarding medication, management of symptoms, health care issues, and healthy living.
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience; or a three (3) year diploma and two (2) years of experience; or an associate degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse of which one (1) of which must have been in a community health program.
Additional Requirements
  • Employee must be licensed to practice nursing in SC and must qualify as a Registered Nurse as defined by BHDD-OMH / CCMHC Quality Assurance.
  • A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.
  • Ability to lift 5lbs.
  • May be required to provide intermittent coverage in other clinics within the center's catchment area as needed.
  • May be assigned to another clinic within CCMHC to meet Patient Care Standards as required.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Health care or related experience.
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy.
Post hire, employees must:
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
  • Have knowledge of nursing procedures, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices, basic human anatomy.
  • Be able to operate a state vehicle.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule and know this position is considered essential and may be called back during crises / disasters/ emergencies. .
  • Perform all job duties and provide all services and documentation in compliance with CARF, OMH, CCMHC, Quality Assurance, Compliance, HIPAA, Transcultural and Productivity Standards, Policies and Procedures.
