Construction Laborer - Paving

Pay: $21-25 per hour.

Job Description

This role focuses on supporting commercial paving and non‑highway road construction projects as a skilled construction laborer. You will report to the office in Gorham and then travel with the crew to various job sites, working on commercial parking lots, non‑highway roads, and sidewalks. The position involves hands‑on work in roadway construction, general labor, and earthworks, with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop your skills in commercial paving.

Responsibilities
  • Meet daily at the office in Gorham and travel with the crew to assigned job sites.
  • Perform general labor tasks to support commercial paving and non‑highway road construction projects.
  • Assist with the preparation, placement, and finishing of asphalt on commercial parking lots, non‑highway roads, and sidewalks.
  • Support roadway construction and earthworks activities, including site preparation, grading, and cleanup.
  • Operate or assist with the operation of paving‑related tools and equipment under direction and within safety guidelines.
  • Handle materials, tools, and equipment safely, including loading, unloading, and organizing supplies on site.
  • Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds occasionally, following safe lifting practices.
  • Work up to 10 hours per day during peak season, maintaining productivity and attention to detail throughout the shift.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working on active construction sites.
  • Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to complete projects on time and to quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at job sites and in company vehicles.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and tasks related to commercial paving and road construction.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience as a paving laborer or in a similar construction labor role.
  • Strong mechanical ability to work with paving tools, equipment, and machinery under supervision.
  • Experience in commercial paving, especially on non‑highway roads and commercial parking lots, highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform roadway construction, general labor, road construction, and earthworks tasks.
  • Capability to work up to 10 hours per day during peak season in outdoor construction environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds safely.
  • Reliability in meeting at the designated office location and traveling to various job sites as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the company and adapt to changing project needs.
