Description:

Our Components Division, located in Gorham, Maine is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist for either first or second shift. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 or more years of machining experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Experience with all machine shop operations to include:
    • Effectively operate lathes, mills, Bridge ports, drill presses, routers, etc. (Including specialized production equipment after an instructional period).
    • Prototrak/Centroid type controllers
    • Set-up and fixturing for manual machines
    • Ability to optimize feeds and speeds for all machining operations
    • Maintain adjustment of machine(s) to produce consistent quality product
  • Interpret specifications and blueprints required for manufacture and perform dimensional verification using appropriate measuring devices
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
  • Use of safe lifting techniques and lift-assist equipment as appropriate
  • Perform preventive maintenance of machines and machine tools to maintain precision machining operations
  • Machine “one-of-a-kind” pieces from blueprints or sketches
  • Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
  • Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts
  • Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation

Requirements:

  • 3 or more years' experience as a Manual Machinist Preferred
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong planning and documentation skills, detail focused
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven production environment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations including converting fractions to decimals
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physically active work
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, setup sheets and work tickets
  • Willingness to cross-train and adapt to shifting priorities

This role is for First Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
