Job Description & How to Apply Below
About the role
As a Risk Manager at Group level, you will play a key role in strengthening risk awareness and decision‑making across Damen. You work closely with project teams, divisional management and Group stakeholders to ensure that operational, financial, and contractual risks are transparently assessed and effectively mitigated. This hands‑on advisory role has real influence: you lead risk workshops, translate complex risks into clear insights, and help teams make better‑informed choices.
The role is primarily based at Group level with limited travel, approximately once per quarter.
- Conduct risk assessments during the commercial and execution phases of shipbuilding and related projects.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary risk workshops with stakeholders from Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Legal and Supply Chain.
- Identify, analyse and prioritise operational, financial, contractual and planning risks, and support teams in defining practical mitigation measures.
- Maintain and further develop project risk registers, ensuring consistency with Group standards.
- Support divisions in applying the Group risk management framework, tools and ways of working.
- Analyse risk trends across projects, identify recurring themes and contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned.
- Provide clear risk insights and reports to divisional management and, where relevant, the Group Risk Board.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Naval Architecture, Business Administration or similar).
- 3–5 years of experience in risk management, project control, project management or a related role, preferably in technically complex project environments (shipbuilding, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy).
- Experience with operational and financial risk assessments and defining mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with enterprise or project risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO
31000) is a strong plus. - Ability to analyse risk information, recognise patterns and translate insights into clear recommendations.
- Strong communication skills in English and Dutch, with confidence to facilitate workshops and engage senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, structured and independent working style, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
- Group‑level role with exposure to diverse projects across the Damen organisation.
- Limited travel, approximately once per quarter, and a healthy work–life balance.
- Competitive salary ranging between €4.500 and €6.000 gross per month (based on a full‑time contract), excluding holiday allowance. Exact salary depends on knowledge and experience.
- Part of the collective labour agreement Metalektro.
- Dynamic, international and technology‑driven working environment.
- Opportunities for professional growth, learning and development within risk management and project environments.
- An open and socially active company culture, with room for initiative and ownership.
