Civil Construction Pathway Internship (High School Students)

Gain insight, work experience, and work‑based learning credit through a paid internship at Rieth-Riley! We provide students studying the Civil Construction Pathway (or related construction pathway) an opportunity to learn from industry experts and discover a deeper understanding of heavy highway/civil construction. The Civil Construction Pathway is recognized by the Department of Education as a high‑value program. Rieth‑Riley will provide the following PPE items: work boots, hard hat, safety vest, gloves.
SUMMARYAssist field operations in a safe, efficient, and proper manner to achieve a quality finished product in the paving process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- General Laborer duties on asphalt, concrete, dirt/earthwork job sites.
- Work with various hand tools including shovels, rakes that are used to move materials.
- Helping prep and clean up job sites.
- Quality control / Density, and technical aspects of projects in heavy highway/road construction.
- Density testing, core sample collection, calculations, and inspections of aggregate, asphalt, or concrete mixes.
- Enrolled in Civil Construction I or II as high school junior or senior.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn.
- Safety aptitude.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Must be able to work outdoors.
- Problem solving skills with attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated; ability to work independently and as a team.
