The Design Engineer can work within a dynamic group to meet project goals and timelines. The person in this position must be well organized, detail oriented, and have the flexibility to handle multiple project assignments.

This position is responsible for creating R&D for all departments in the plant which includes but not limited to; furniture & marine.2/3D drawings and layouts using Master Cam, Top Solid Design/Nesting, Lectra, and SolidworksSpecifications including foam, vinyl, wood and plasticCost estimates and bill of materialsNesting for production floorDevelop designs for complete seating structures and production programsPlans and executes the presentation of arrangements in graphic form or in detailed scale modelsPlans, organizes, and coordinates workload to achieve objectivesCollects, reads, interprets and sees related reference documents and drawings prepares by other disciplines, vendors or outside sourcesEnsures compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, safety, constructability, reliable operation, construction economy and operating convenienceReviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality as observed in finished product auditsAssist others with production issuesHelps others collect or deliver design and engineering data at job sites or client officesFrequent contact and interaction with production, purchasing, and direct supervisorCompetencies

Physical Demands

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work could also become necessary.

Required
Education and Experience High school diploma and/or related associates degree in engineering or specific discipline and two years’ experience; or Four years related experience and/or training specialized in drafting, design, and engineering practices; orEquivalent combination of education, training, and experienceAbility to read and interpret documents.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.Preferred
