Type of position: Licensed Classified outside of the bargaining unit, salary range $52,000.00 - $81,000.00 and/or competitive based on experience.
Position
Purpose:
Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing problems in accordance with Indiana Special education laws.
- Conduct speech, language, hearing screens.
- Diagnose and evaluate speech, language, and hearing skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
- Plan, direct, and conduct habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to develop communicative efficiency of individuals with communication delays.
- Administer, score, and interpret specialized speech and language assessments and hearing screenings.
- Develop individualized educational programs for students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Conduct evaluations within guidelines established through Article 7.
- Report progress on IEP goals on a quarterly basis.
- Attend/hold case conferences within guidelines established through Article 7.
- Maintain records and progress monitoring required by law.
- Serve as consultant for classroom teachers, psychologists, principals, and counselors to promote speech and language development activities in the daily schedule.
- Bills Medicaid as eligible for services rendered.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Appropriate certifications by the Indiana Department of Education.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students, parents, and school staff.
- Skills in human relations and organization.
- ASHA Certification preferred, but not required.
- Other qualifications that district may require.
