Job Synopsis

The MCC Great Lakes Material Resource Director provides direction & supervision for the programming, volunteers, warehouse upkeep and budget of the Goshen Material Resource Center (MRC) and oversight of Material Resource programming in the Great Lakes region. Programming includes processing of material resources to get ready for international shipment, recycling, involvement of volunteers, and providing educational opportunities. This role requires excellent communication and people skills, as the MR Director interacts with volunteers, thanks to donors, and represents MCC in a variety of speaking engagements.

The MR Director supervises and gives direction to the regional MR team in Goshen, IN and Kidron, OH. The work week is generally Monday through Friday with some evening or weekend work and the hosting of groups. Travel includes off site location pickups and packing/knotting events, speaking, and attending annual Material Resource Network meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in organizational management, communication, or related degree.

3-5 years relevant experience in volunteer coordination, management, or non-profit work.

Good organization, administration and leadership skills; ability to set vision and carry out strategic plans.

Extensive experience working with volunteers of all ages and group sizes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from a range of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and theologies.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision but also able to be accountable to larger organizational goals.

Commitment to the mission of Mennonite Central Committee.

CPR certified or willingness to be trained.

Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable driving record and eligible to be an MCC authorized driver as defined by policy, insurance, and legal requirements.

Employment eligibility:
Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).

Preferred

Master’s degree in organizational management, communication, or related degree.

Five years’ experience in volunteer management and supervision.

Spanish fluency.
