JobOverview
The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment, and you need knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment and contact customers to address operational issues.
- Collaborate with the Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary for installations and repairs.
- Assist and train apprentices and other Field Service Technicians.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning, start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, assuring equipment operates to customer requirements with limited guidance.
- Promote Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits and Leak Detection to enhance customer operations.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with a clean driving record (no major infractions in the past 5 years).
- Willingness to be on‑call after the first 90 days of employment, with possible on‑call weeks as often as every 4 weeks or more.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting within company safety limits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Experience with advanced network system installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
- Basic vibration troubleshooting skills.
- Basic knowledge of air quality systems (compressor/dryer – air treatment).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer software; handheld computer usage (smartphone, iPad, etc.).
- Ability to maintain proper business travel practices efficiently.
- Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.
- EPA Certification.
- Veterans/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.
- Daily travel within a 3‑hour radius of the service area.
- Company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
