Life Skills & Transition Center – Grafton, ND – Cook (TEMP)

This is a temporary flex position that supports the LSTC Dietary services at least two days per week.

• Prepare nutritious, appealing meals in a safe and sanitary manner to meet individualized nutritional needs and preferences of residents and staff.
• Prepare regular and therapeutic menu items by following standardized menus and recipes, measuring ingredients accurately, chopping and modifying foods as needed, and safely handling kitchen equipment.
• Build and maintain a strong working knowledge of therapeutic diets and consistency modifications through orientation, review of the Nutrition Diet Manual, and participation in ongoing in‑service trainings.
• Ensure all food is prepared and held within safe temperature ranges by using thermometers, documenting temperatures, and adjusting heating or cooling as necessary.
• Follow exact measuring and sanitation techniques while preserving nutrient content, in alignment with department, state, and federal policies and procedures.

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of similar food preparation and/or cooking experience (strongly desired).
• Ability to read and understand specialized recipes and dietary cards in English.
• Willingness to train in various areas of the kitchen and a readiness to learn new tasks.
