Leader in Training - Assistant Coach

Leaders in Training (LITs) act specifically as mentors throughout the class. They monitor the students’ behaviors and effort levels and help keep them in line.

The goals of the LITs are to provide the students with positive and enthusiastic support, especially to those students that tend to underperform during class.

Requirements

• A love of martial arts
• A love of helping other people grow
• Participation in your own Martial Arts Classes at least 2x/week
• Active participation in the Utopia S.T.O.R.M. Program
• Ability to make it to S.T.O.R.M. team trainings (3rd Saturday morning of every month)
• Fun, energetic, and outgoing
• Shift availability - 4 to 7pm 2 days a week (Flexible with school and other activities)

Here are responsibilities of a Leader in Training:

• Procedures before class:
  Monitoring the students as they get their tracking cards
• Line up:
  Monitoring the students that are lined up.
• Warm up:
  Monitoring the students during warm-up and leading warm ups.
• Water break:
  Monitoring the students as they get water.
• Mat chat:
  Monitoring the students and making sure the students are attentive.
• Drills:
  Monitoring the students as they participate in line, or running a drill when asked.
• Skill stripe test:
  Monitoring the students as they wait for their turn.
• Skill stripe awards:
  Cleaning up equipment and getting equipment ready for game if necessary.
• Games:
  Monitoring the students as they play to make sure they are playing fair.
• Announcements:
  Monitoring the students to make sure they are attentive.
