Position: Nursing Faculty (9 months)
OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Alamance Community College faculty are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 20-24 on-campus contact hours Monday through Friday. Nursing Faculty may be tasked with day, evening and/or weekend teaching assignments within the Associate Degree Nursing and/or Practical Nursing programs. In certain program areas and during certain periods, such as advising and registration, faculty may work more than the minimum on-campus hours.

Focused on student success, faculty support the College's mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of the classroom through high-quality instruction, academic support, and informed advising.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospitals and professional organizations.

* Supervise and evaluate student progress, providing guidance and support.

* Participate in ongoing program assessment and make improvements as necessary.

* Maintains licensure/certifications and stay current with developments in Nursing and education.

* Providing appropriate and effective instruction.

* Teaching classes per the College's teaching load and formula in combinations including day, evening, weekend, off-campus and online as the College requires.

* Providing relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention.

* Creating meaningful assessments and evaluations of student work according to departmental standards.

* Maintaining accurate student records, including course attendance to enhance retention and success.

* Being available to students during office or lab hours for assistance.

* Providing regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook.

* Providing accurate, informed advising.

* Maintaining accessible office or lab hours.

* Attends faculty and staff meetings.

* Attends Nursing pinning ceremonies and College's commencement ceremonies.

* Understands College policies and procedures, degree requirements, and transfer agreements.

* Providing students with current information regarding career opportunities, as appropriate.

* Being informed about College services and support for students.

* Manages inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and tools.

* Recruiting students, including participation in open houses, College events, and recruitment fairs.

* Engaging in continuous improvement efforts.

* Participating in student club activities and events.

* Assisting with accreditation/regulatory reports.

* Assisting with live projects as relevant.

* Serve on College Committees and Nursing Advisory Board.

* Performs other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives.

Additional Functions

* Substitutes in class/lab/clinical for absent colleagues.

* Tutor students outside class meeting times.

* Maintains the cleanliness of work areas and labs.

* Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.

Education and/or Experience

* Either a bachelor's or graduate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

* Minimum of 24 months of experience in clinical practice as a Registered Nurse.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

* Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) Provider certification.

* NC Board of Nursing requirements:

* Must hold a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution within 5 years of initial full-time employment.

* Possess or obtain within three years of employment, formal educational preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. This education may be demonstrated by one of the following:

* completion of 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses;

* completion of a certificate program in nursing education;
