Adjunct Instructor, Horticulture Technology

Teach horticulture courses during the day, evening and/or hybrid as needed.

Planning and implementing hands-on projects to reinforce course objectives.

Provide effective instruction to students in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental electronic materials to enhance lessons, using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance.

Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources outside of class, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner so as to promote student success.

Maintain teaching and work environment by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.

Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies.

Other tasks will include identifying and assessing student learning outcomes; excellent communication with the Department Head; grading and returning work in a timely manner; and holding weekly office hours.

Required:

• Associate's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in an arboriculture related job, such as climber or plant health care specialist.
• Computer literate
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Applicant should also be able to demonstrate the ability to implement strict safety protocols on a continual basis and pay close attention to detail.
• Applicant must have the ability to operate equipment associated with horticulture related courses

Preferred:

• 2 years of higher education teaching experience
• NC Pesticide License
