Are you a strong leader who’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? At Alamance County DSS, we’re looking for a motivated and compassionate Economic Services Supervisor to lead our dedicated team of program policy trainers and quality assurance staff. In this role, you won’t just guide program training standards and quality improvement—you’ll help shape how our community’s most vulnerable residents access care and support.

By ensuring our benefits workers receive exceptional training and technical support, you’ll empower them to deliver services accurately, confidently, and with empathy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide staff training and quality assurance for multiple Economic Benefits programs such as:
    • Family and Children’s Medicaid
    • Adult Medicaid
    • Food and Nutrition Services
Your Leadership Will Include
  • Guiding the Team:
Planning, organizing, and directing daily operations of the unit to support high–quality service. This includes working with other supervisors and your team to develop training plans for new and veteran staff; reviewing training materials; coordinating schedules for policy, mentoring, refresher, and onboarding training for all Economic Services staff; assigning daily case reviews and OSS tickets; managing coaching requests; and overseeing IMC III rotations for Hearing Officer requests and monthly community outreach.
  • Coaching & Growth:
Training, mentoring, and setting clear work standards for advanced level staff so that they can succeed. You’ll also play a key role in welcoming new talent by interviewing applicants and helping choose the next great addition to the team.
  • Accountability:
Support and develop your team by regularly checking in on performance, offering helpful and encouraging feedback, and guiding staff through performance reviews or corrective steps when needed. Monitor team accountability by ensuring deliverables to other supervisors such as error trend reports, trainee evaluations, case reviews, and requested training material are submitted timely.
  • Problem‑Solving:
Analyze workflow and training practices and procedures to improve efficiency and outcomes. Provide oversight and consultation on quality improvement and error trends to assure compliance with federal, state, and local policy.
  • Collaboration:

Work closely and communicate effectively with other departmental supervisors to ensure consistent policy compliance and training across all units, promoting a culture of excellence.
Qualifications

Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an Economic Services program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Specific knowledge preferred in the areas of Family and Children’s Medicaid, Adult Medicaid, or Food and Nutrition Services.

All DSS positions are subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and are subject to performing work during emergency or disaster situations as required and may be required to staff shelter overnight.

  • Enjoyment of setting goals, rolling out new initiatives, and analyzing data in a collaborative environment.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing disadvantaged populations, and how quality control and training standards ensure the best possible outcomes for customers.
  • Sharp problem‑solving, reasoning, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
