Apprentice Mechanic Duties And Responsibilities
Completing a mechanic apprenticeship requires commitment and dedication, so it’s important for an apprentice mechanic to have a passion for the manufacturing industry and a strong desire to continually learn new skills. They are primarily responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining equipment, working under the supervision of a qualified maintenance technician.
Here are some specific daily duties and responsibilities, which you may wish to include in your apprentice mechanic job description:
- Assist experienced mechanics to perform maintenance and repair work on a range of equipment.
- Assist with the diagnosis of mechanical and electrical faults. Perform safety inspections.
- Remove and replace broken or defective parts correctly and accurately. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Follow all health and safety procedures. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment.
