Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for facilitating the full participation and success of special education students by providing appropriate academic, physical, and/or social support.

Responsibilities:

• Assist special education students with academic tasks.
• With guidance from teachers, reinforce material initially introduced by teachers.
• Assist students with physical tasks such as getting on/off the bus, taking off/putting on outerwear, carrying lunch trays, transferring students between areas, using the restroom, etc.
• Provide physical assistance when needed, which may include lifting students, assisting with or performing catheterization procedures, changing diapers, performing transfers such as from wheelchair to desk chair.
• On a frequent, routine basis, report student performance, including changes in performance, to the special education case manager.
• Become familiar with the strengths and challenges of students to provide appropriate support, including familiarity with student IEPs.
• Collect student-related data as directed.
• Perform duties as bus aide as directed by Process Coordinator or Director.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Director, Principal, or Process Coordinator.

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 60 college hours or successful completion of the Paraprofessional exam.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.

Work Environment:

• 9‑month position.
• Part‑time – 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday AM only, 7:45 a.m.–11:15 a.m.).
• Reports to the Director of Special Education and Building Principal.
• Non‑exempt.

Position Type: Part‑Time

Salary: $15.47 to $20.27 per hour
