Position: Shop Technician/Installer
Employment Type: Part-Time
Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per week
Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday; schedule may vary based on shop workload and appointments. Some Saturday availability is required. LINE-X of Grain Valley is closed Sunday and Monday.
Pay: $16.00–$19.00/hour, based on experience

About the Role

LINE-X of Grain Valley is looking for a dependable, hardworking and mechanically inclined Shop Technician/Installer to work alongside our owner/operator.

This is a hands‑on position assisting with LINE-X spray‑on bedliners, vehicle preparation, truck accessory installation and day‑to‑day shop operations. You'll help prepare vehicles for scheduled work, assist with installations, maintain tools and work areas, and learn LINE-X products and application processes.

As your skills and experience develop, there will be opportunities to take on additional technical responsibilities, including more independent accessory installations and LINE-X applications.

Previous automotive, mechanical, installation or shop experience is helpful, but not required. We're willing to train the right person who is dependable, mechanically inclined, detail‑oriented and eager to learn.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare vehicles for LINE-X applications, including cleaning, disassembly, masking and other prep work
  • Assist with removal of masking materials and post-application cleanup
  • Assist with LINE-X spray‑on bedliner and protective coating applications as trained
  • Assist with installation of truck and vehicle accessories such as tonneau covers, step bars, hitches, lighting, toppers and other aftermarket products
  • Learn proper installation techniques and follow manufacturer instructions and specifications
  • Assist with basic wiring and electrical connections as trained
  • Inspect vehicles before and after work to help ensure quality workmanship
  • Properly use and care for hand tools, power tools and shop equipment
  • Maintain, clean and properly store tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Keep spray, installation and general shop areas clean, organized and safe
  • Help receive, organize and maintain parts, products and shop supplies
  • Communicate parts, supplies or equipment needs to the owner/operator
  • Follow LINE-X procedures, product guidelines and all shop safety requirements
  • Help protect customer vehicles from damage and keep them clean while in our care
  • Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with customers
  • Assist with other shop duties as needed based on daily workload
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Dependable, punctual and able to maintain a consistent work schedule
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with your hands
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Able to follow written instructions, installation guides and established procedures
  • Able to take direction and work effectively alongside others
  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks once trained
  • Willing and able to learn new products, installation methods and LINE-X application processes
  • Comfortable working in an active automotive shop environment
  • Able to stand, bend, kneel, reach and perform physical work for extended periods
  • Able to safely lift and move up to 75 pounds
  • Availability to work approximately 20–30 hours per week, including some Saturdays
Experience

Previous experience in automotive work, mechanical repair, accessory installation, construction, fabrication, maintenance, body work, detailing or another hands‑on trade is preferred but not required
