Overview
Stefanini Group is looking for a Senior Compute Engineer to be part of our Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) cluster, within the Infrastructure Services Division. The Senior Compute Engineer owns the engineering and operational lifecycle of Windows Server and virtualization platforms across global plants and offices. It requires deep hands-on expertise with Azure Local technologies (Azure Stack HCI, Azure Arc) and VMware (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter), with a strong focus on automation, standardization, and resilient infrastructure delivery.
You will drive zero-touch Azure Local deployments on Dell hardware, maintain stable and scalable compute platforms, and produce clear, high-quality documentation for operational readiness.
- Deploy, configure, and operate Windows Server environments, Azure Stack HCI clusters, and VMware vSphere across globally distributed sites.
- Implement and integrate Azure Arc for governance, update management, compliance, and observability.
- Manage lifecycle, patching, and upgrades across servers, clusters, and virtualization platforms with minimal downtime.
- Engineer and maintain compute clusters, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), and virtualization networking to ensure high performance, high availability, and disaster recovery capability.
- Implement and maintain backup and restore patterns using Rubrik.
- Design, build, and automate operational tasks using Power Shell.
- Produce high-quality HLDs, LLDs, runbooks, and knowledge articles, and execute clean handover to operations teams.
- Support standardization across sites by developing reusable builds, templates, and automation patterns.
- 7+ years of engineering experience in Windows Server and VMware enterprise environments.
- Proven hands-on experience with Azure Local, including Azure Stack HCI deployment, configuration, and operations.
- Deep expertise with vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, including HA, DRS, vMotion, lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of cluster technologies, S2D, and failover clustering.
- Solid foundation in Active Directory, Entra d integration, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and basic PKI.
- Strong Power Shell automation capabilities.
- Experience with patching/compliance tools (WSUS, Config Mgr, Windows Update for Business, or equivalents).
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to produce high-quality documentation.
- Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach; able to partner with operations, architecture, and platform teams.
- Experience with Rubrik Backup.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) exposure (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, ARM, DSC).
- Knowledge of AKS, Azure Migrate, or container platforms.
- Experience with automation/orchestration using Ansible or similar tools.
