Job GoalTo assist the school district nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school health service in order to realize that services maximum positive impact on the educational environment.
Responsibilities- Be able to follow procedures in administering medication as needed to students.
- Be able to follow procedures of care for students including but not limited to
- Diabetes Care
- Insulin Injections
- Tube feeding
- Toileting
- Transferring and lifting of student
- Suctioning
- Emergency response
- Catheterization
- Maintain records and perform clerical work.
- Attend continuing education classes as needed.
- Be able to communicate with various school personnel, parents, and students.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality in all health matters.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities within the overall scope of the position which the supervisor may assign.
- Minimum of High School Diploma (Prefer LPN/CNA)
- Current first aid and CPR certification
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to work with students in a classroom setting.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
The workday shall be established by the supervisor but shall not exceed 7.5 hours per day, excluding 30 minutes for a duty‑free lunch, unless other arrangements are made by the supervisor. Workdays of 6 hours per day or less shall not have a scheduled lunch period.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Services personnel.
