Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II
Location: Grand Blanc, MI 48439
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 4x10-Hour Shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 Hours
Guaranteed Hours: Dependent on facility requirements

On-Call Requirements:

  • 1 weekend per month (Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 6:30 AM)
  • 4 weeknights per month (5:00 PM – 6:30 AM next day)
  • No weekend commitment outside of on-call
  • One variable weekday off per week

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II to join a busy Cath/EP Lab team. The ideal candidate must be a strong scrub tech with experience in all types of cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and electrophysiology (EP) procedures. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and scrub in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to arrhythmias using ACLS standards
  • Identify and interpret ECG waveforms, cardiac pressure waveforms, and hemodynamic data
  • Recognize lethal arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, and chamber enlargements
  • Monitor percutaneous coronary interventions including PTCA, atherectomy, angiojet, rotoblator, and laser revascularization devices
  • Perform cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT measurements
  • Identify coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections
  • Calculate and document hemodynamic parameters
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the Merge Hemo system (preferred)
  • Recognize abnormal lab values (ABGs, electrolytes, hemoglobin, BUN, creatinine) and alert physicians
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac medications (generic and trade names), indications, and dosages
  • Assist with staff orientation and training as needed
  • Adhere to medical ethics and facility standards

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology
  • Proficient in ECG interpretation and cardiac terminology
  • Ability to scrub in sterile environment for extended periods
  • Ability to wear lead apron for extended periods
  • Ability to assist with lifting and transferring patients with team support
  • Demonstrated customer service skills including communication, teamwork, respect, and professionalism
  • Self-directed, flexible, and committed to team-based care

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of Cath/EP lab experience
  • Must be able to scrub all types of heart caths, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health program (Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, Cardiac/Vascular Sonography, or equivalent)
  • One of the following credentials required:
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
  • RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist)
  • ARRT with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI)
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required (within 6 months of hire if not current)
