Position: Internal Only - Cardiovasc Techno - RCIS/RCES - 40 Hours - Days

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS/RCES) to join our team as an EP Float Tech
, supporting our electrophysiology and cardiac catheterization programs. This role will primarily provide 80% EP procedure support and 20% cath lab support, assisting physicians with invasive cardiac and therapeutic procedures, preparing equipment, monitoring hemodynamic and ECG data, and ensuring high‑quality patient care throughout each procedure.

EP experience is preferred
, and technologists will have the opportunity to work across both EP and cath settings while expanding clinical expertise. This position includes no on‑call obligations

General Summary

Under general supervision, the Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS/RCES) renders patient care in accordance with physician protocols to provide patient comfort and well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician in conducting all invasive cardiac and therapeutic procedures by preparing equipment and patients, functioning as scrub assistant, and/or recording all hemodynamic and electrodigraphic data.
  • Orient students and new employees, assist in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies, act as a resource person, assist with patient transport, attend in‑service meetings, and keep current on cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care to the age groups served.
  • Prepare laboratory for study by checking data‑processing equipment, calibrating analogue recording equipment, and arranging surgical instruments using aseptic technique.
  • Verify patient identity prior to procedure, review chart for allergies, ensure pre‑operative labs and ECG studies are completed, and administer appropriate pre‑operative medications.
  • Prepare patient for procedure by positioning on table, connecting leads to an ECG, leveling transducers, and preparing entry site.
  • Reassure patient before, during, and after procedure.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and ECG data during procedure, recognizing arrhythmias, heart block, and physiological changes; attend to patient comfort.
  • Act as patient/family educator prior to diagnostic or surgical procedures, explaining the procedure and expectations and answering questions.
  • Act as patient advocate when required, providing emotional support and comfort.
  • Administer and dispense medications as authorized by hospital and ordered by physician.
  • Monitor IVs, operative IV infusion pumps, oxygen, and suction equipment.
  • Record cardiac data, perform routine analysis, and prepare data for physician interpretation.
  • Develop ability for electrode and generator analysis during pacemaker implantation.
  • Assist in care, maintenance of departmental area, equipment, and supplies; alert appropriate individuals of malfunctioning equipment and supply needs.
  • Operate apparatus outside laboratory (e.g., Fick apparatus, blood oximeter) to assess physiological parameters; handle non‑sterile equipment and ensure functional integrity.
  • Maintain logs of all events and equipment used during procedures.
  • Monitor online computerized data to assess and relate multiple parameters such as valvular gradients; troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Alert physician and health team members of patient status and significant variations in vital signs.
  • Attend in‑service meetings and other requested activities; keep current on catheterization laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by authorized personnel.
Essential Functions
  • Possess interpersonal skills for communication with patients in stressful situations and exchange factual information with physicians and other health team members.
  • Possess analytical skills to review multiple data sources simultaneously, recognize normal and abnormal physiological data, and make quick, accurate decisions regarding patient status.
  • Be able to lift, push, and pull patients to achieve proper positioning; stand and walk up to 50% of work time during procedures.
