This opportunity is located near Holly, MI, with occasional travel to Southfield or Auburn Hills.
What You Will Be Doing- Manage direct material suppliers, including supplier onboarding, purchasing activities, pricing, and ongoing supplier relationships
- Lead annual negotiations and drive cost reduction initiatives with suppliers
- Manage supplier and part changes while ensuring smooth implementation and continuity of production
- Analyze purchasing data, costs, and trends using ERP systems and advanced Excel functions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, quality, and other internal teams to support production goals
- Manage approximately 20 suppliers at a time while balancing shifting priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and purchasing best practices
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:
- 3+ years of direct material purchasing experience within automotive manufacturing
- Strong supplier negotiation experience with proven examples of cost savings or successful supplier management
- Experience working within an ERP system, preferably SAP
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, formulas, and VLOOKUPs
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with a positive, personable, and self-driven attitude
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience purchasing electronic components or products
- Experience working with global suppliers
- Background in process improvement or purchasing automation initiatives
- Hybrid schedule with flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week
- Competitive compensation ranging from $80,000-$120,000 based on experience
