Registered Nurse - PACU II
Hours: 5:30am – 4:00pm, Monday‑Friday. No weekends or on‑call. Holidays as required.
- Hospital: Henry Ford Health Genesys
- Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan
- Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
- Within the framework of the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner's Domains of Nursing Practice, demonstrate clinical competence, compassion, and a customer service orientation; focus on process and outcomes; and practice cost‑conscious care when assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
- Provide patient care that respects patients’ rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs, including assessment and education across the continuum.
- Collaborate with patients, families, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans that prepare patients for continued care needs.
- Complete admissions and shift assessments, risk factor assessments (fall, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration), and medication reconciliation.
- Document nursing interventions (NIC), progress toward outcomes (NOC), patient education, and evaluation for each shift.
- Educate patients regarding treatment plans, safety measures, medications, and self‑care.
- Assist with medication administration, IV therapy, blood specimen collection, capillary glucose monitoring, and basic nursing procedures such as dressing changes, catheterization, NG tube insertion, and suctioning.
- Implement and assist with medical interventions and standing orders, and provide activities of daily living support as needed.
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient physiological parameters, pain, respiratory, neurological, cardiac, and urinary status, using SBAR or other standardized communication tools.
- Respond to life‑threatening emergencies through CPR, emergency equipment assembly, and immediate interventions.
- Provide emotional support to families in crisis or grieving, and advocate for patient safety, including restraint use and universal precautions.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain thorough documentation in the electronic health record.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and ethical standards, recognizing advanced directives and other ethical issues.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, teaching/mentoring of student nurses, and contribute to unit and department councils.
- Support a healthy work environment through respectful communication, conflict resolution, and awareness of unit workload changes.
- Maintain physical wellness by walking or standing continuously and lifting and positioning patients as required.
- Follow all department and hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire.
- Certified BLS Provider (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire, or Certified Instructor.
- Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
- Approximately 3 to 9 months on‑the‑job experience required to apply unit policies and procedures.
