Registered Nurse - PACU I Part-time

• Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
• Demonstrate clinical competence, compassion, customer service orientation, focus on process and outcomes, and cost-consciousness while assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care as governed by the Seven Dimensions of Patient Care and Benner's Domains of Nursing Practice.
• Provide patient care that respects patients' rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and needs. Assess patient/family needs for information and education across the continuum, plan and implement teaching using a variety of techniques, evaluate effectiveness, and alleviate patient fears and anxiety through professional and interpersonal communication.
• Collaboration with patient/family, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans that prepare patients for continued care needs.
• Conduct and document admission assessment, shift assessment, risk factor identification (fall, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration), medication reconciliation, and plan of nursing care in collaboration with patients and families.
• Initiate and document problems and outcomes lists based on medical diagnoses and patient needs.
• Implement therapeutic regimens, nursing interventions, and preventative measures such as skin breakdown prevention, fall prevention, and intravenous therapy. Demonstrate basic nursing procedures including dressing change, catheterization, NG tube insertion, suctioning, and blood capillary glucose monitoring.
• Administer medications, IVs, and blood products in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgical or invasive procedures, perform or assist procedures, and operate equipment such as IV pumps, PCA pumps, epidural pumps, and patient beds.
• Monitor vital signs, laboratory values, I&O, blood glucose, and pain levels; recognize and report meaningful changes; intervene appropriately and document interventions.
• Respond to acute changes in respiratory, neurologic, cardiac, and urinary status; initiate CPR and other life‑support measures as required.
• Support families through crisis or grieving processes, ensuring quality of care and a safe environment, including appropriate use of restraints and universal precautions.
• Communicate with other professionals and units to ensure appropriate patient progression and strategic goal support; participate in quality monitoring and improvement activities.
• Mentor student nurses and orientate new staff; provide feedback and develop performance improvement plans.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire.
• Certified BLS Provider (basic life support) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire, or Certified Instructor.
• Graduate from an approved professional RN nursing program.
