Registered Nurse - Postpartum - Part-Time - thru 3rd weekend

Part‑time 7 pm – 7:30 am Monday through Friday and every third weekend; 36‑60 hours per pay period. Hospital:

• Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
• Demonstrate clinical competence, compassion, customer‑service orientation, process and outcome focus, and cost‑consciousness when planning and delivering care.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary plans of care in accordance with Nursing Problem Care Sets and clinical practice guidelines.
• Respect patient rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and express needs; assess and educate patients/families using various techniques.
• Collaborate with patients, families, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans.
• Implement pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic approaches to patient comfort, pain relief, and safety.
• Complete assessments for risk factors (fall, skin breakdown, VTE, aspiration) and initiate brief interventions.
• Document nursing interventions, progress toward outcomes, and patient education each shift.
• Administer medications, IVs, blood products, and run therapeutic regimens as ordered.
• Perform basic procedures: dressing changes, catheterization, NG tube insertion, suctioning, and obtain body‑fluid and blood‑specimen samples.
• Use equipment per manufacturer instructions and troubleshoot IV/PCA/epidural pumps, feeding pumps, and patient beds.
• Monitor vital signs, lab work, I&O, and blood glucose; recognize and report meaningful changes.
• Respond to acute changes in respiratory, neurologic, cardiac, and urinary status; initiate CPR or emergency interventions as required.
• Communicate with other professionals and physicians using SBAR or other standardized methods.
• Provide support and resources for families during crisis or grieving processes.
• Maintain a safe environment, use restraints per policy, and observe universal precautions.
• Participate in quality‑improvement activities, teaching/mentoring, and new‑product evaluation.
• Demonstrate commitment to cost‑effective use of supplies and resources.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire.
• Certified BLS provider from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire, or Certified Instructor.
• Graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
• Approximately 3 to 9 months of on‑the‑job experience required to acquire unit and departmental policies and procedures.
