Position Overview

Schedule:

Part‑time days 7am–7:30pm Monday through Friday and every other weekend. Hospital:
Henry Ford Health Genesys.

Location:

Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Responsibilities
  • Use independent professional judgment, analytical skills, and the nursing process to provide a full range of delegated, interdependent, and independent nursing services to patients.
  • Demonstrate clinical competence, compassion, customer service orientation, focus on process and outcomes, and cost‑consciousness while assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care plans in accordance with Nursing Problem Care Sets, core outcomes and interventions, clinical practice guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide patient care that respects patients’ rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs. Assess and address patient and family educational needs.
  • Alleviate patient fears and anxiety through skilled use of professional and interpersonal communication. Utilize pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic approaches to ensure comfort and pain relief.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, hospital staff, and community agencies to develop discharge plans that prepare patients for continued care.
  • Complete admission assessment and periodic reassessments; document nursing interventions (NIC), progress toward outcomes (NOC), patient education, and evaluation every shift.
  • Initiate and document medication reconciliation, skin, fall, VTE prevention bundles, and appropriate initiatives such as SKIN Bundle, Fall Prevention Plan, or SCD.
  • Administer medications, IVs, blood products, and assist with invasive procedures as ordered and in line with established policies.
  • Perform basic nursing procedures (dressing change, catheterization, NG tube insertion, suctioning), maintain peripheral IV therapy, obtain and handle fluid specimens, and monitor vital signs and laboratory values.
  • Respond to changes in patient physiologic parameters, respiratory, neurologic, cardiac, and urinary status, using SBAR or other communication tools and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Participate in life‑time emergencies, performing CPR, assembling equipment, and initiating emergency protocols where allowed.
  • Support patients and families through crisis or grieving processes, ensuring safety, documentation of restraints, and adherence to universal precautions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and promote a safe environment; manage use of restraints per policy.
  • Assist in evaluating new products, procedures, and nursing practices and contribute to department and unit quality monitoring and improvement activities.
  • Teach/mentor student nurses, orient new staff, and provide directed leadership and communication to nursing and other staff during shift and team activities.
  • Execute leadership and interpersonal responsibilities to create a healthy work environment, resolve conflicts, and identify staffing or workload concerns.
  • Maintain work‑ready status, comply with safety and unit‑specific education requirements, and remain physically capable of nursing duties.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire or job transfer.
  • Certified BLS Provider (American Heart Association) within 90 days of hire, or BLS Instructor.
  • Graduate of an approved professional RN nursing program.
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience, ER preferred.
  • Additional requirement: approximately three to nine months of on‑the‑job experience to acquire unit policies and professional nursing practice.
