The Business Development Manager drives revenue growth by identifying, securing, and expanding sales opportunities for AWT’s engineered solutions. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans that deliver consistent, profitable growth while strengthening long-term customer relationships. Based in Grand Blanc, MI, this high-impact position leads the management of legacy automotive accounts while expanding AWT’s presence into new industrial verticals, including chemical, electronics, and equipment manufacturing.
The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in diversifying the customer portfolio, enhancing market resilience, and positioning AWT for sustained short- and long-term success.
This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans that deliver consistent, profitable growth while strengthening long-term customer relationships.
Responsibilities- Prospect and Generate Leads:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the automotive industry through market research, networking, referrals, and industry events. - Client Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain long-term client partnerships by understanding business objectives and delivering tailored label printing solutions. - Consultative Sales:
Conduct in-depth needs assessments to identify customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and services. - Quotation and Proposal Development:
Prepare accurate, competitive, and comprehensive quotes and proposals aligned with customer specifications. - Sales Presentations:
Deliver persuasive presentations and product demonstrations that clearly communicate technical capabilities and value propositions. - Revenue Performance:
Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets to drive company growth and profitability. - Market Intelligence:
Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies to provide strategic insights and maintain competitive positioning. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with internal sales support and production teams to ensure seamless order processing, execution, and customer satisfaction. - CRM & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions within the Salesforce CRM system. - Other duties assigned and consistent with annual objectives.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in a B2B environment.
- Automotive OEM or Tier experience required.
- Industrial or chemical market experience a plus.
- Minimum 3-5 years sales management experience.
- Technical development experience is required.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Geographic proximity to Grand Blanc, MI.
- Demonstrated success in B2B sales with automotive market.
- Knowledge with tags, label printing, or a related industry is highly desirable.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce required; must be capable of composing professional correspondence, including letters and memos.
- Solid mathematical aptitude, including the ability to perform basic business calculations and compute business formulas within PC-based software.
- Results-driven, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned sales territory.
- Experience in the industrial or chemical market.
