Department Overview
As part of Global Compliance, Privacy, along with other risk and oversight partners provide objective guidance, independent challenge, and risk-based oversight of TD's compliance with applicable privacy laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs). Privacy plays a key role supporting TD's Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Framework which sets out the structures, processes and key control elements through which Risk Owners and Oversight Functions globally are expected to manage and mitigate regulatory compliance risk inherent in their business or corporate segment activities.
Privacy's mandate is to promote a culture of privacy compliance through global and jurisdictional policies, standards, and guidelines that: (i) align to regulatory requirements and TD's Enterprise RCM Framework and related Standards; (ii) reinforce enterprise-wide privacy accountability; and (iii) are adaptable to regulatory change and the evolving needs of our businesses.
The Privacy Program Governance and Operations team has a global mandate, working in partnership with the jurisdictional Privacy Offices.
Job Description
Reporting to the AVP, Privacy, Program Governance and Operations, this role provides program governance and operational support to the broader Privacy team.
Key accountabilities include:
- Oversee their team's:
Execution of various components of TD's Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) program including: management and tracking of RCM deliverables across the broader Privacy team, maintaining supporting documentation and evidence and leading RCM activities with a global reach (e.g., self-reflection, attestations, assessments), in coordination with the jurisdictional Privacy Offices. - Coordination of responses to requests from Compliance Program Management (CPM) teams (e.g., QA/QC, RCM Framework and Standards reviews).
- Management of regulatory change, including ownership of the Global Privacy Regulatory Change Procedure and processes and engaging with jurisdictional Privacy Change Leads to identify, analyze, notify, assess, and oversee Risk Owner implementation of regulatory change. Secure regulatory program support for material regulatory change and act as a regulatory advisor supporting such programs.
- Maintenance of processes to complement and overlay oversight practices, aggregating and analyzing outcomes of RCM activities to effectively provide a horizontal and comprehensive view of the control environment for privacy regulatory compliance across the enterprise and influence Privacy's strategic direction and priorities.
- Engagement with Privacy's Insights and Reporting team to support routine and regular reporting of privacy matters including regulatory noncompliance, emerging trends, and risks.
- Development and maintenance of Privacy's global governance documentation including the Global Privacy Policy and other global standards, guidelines, procedures, etc.
- Coordination of training including managing L&D engagements for Privacy owned mandatory enterprise training (i.e., Privacy at TD, Anti-Spam Legislation at TD) and developing other specialized training and communications (e.g., material regulatory change, employee onboarding), where required.
- Coordinating and facilitating Privacy Forums (with Privacy Designates and Compliance partners globally) and Global Privacy Team Meetings. Includes establishing robust agendas, scheduling, and developing presentation materials, with engagement from jurisdictional Privacy Offices.
- Execution of operational support to the broader Privacy team (e.g., management of governance documents, TD Central pages and the global mailbox).
- Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional and/or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices.
- Plan and execute strategic activities, review, and communicate results, and adjust priorities accordingly.
- Proactively identify key business opportunities, research, and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement.
