Senior Estimator

Metric Geo is partnering with a well-established heavy civil contractor in North Dakota to identify an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team in Grand Forks.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in heavy civil, DOT, highway, roadway, asphalt, concrete, earthwork, or underground utilities who wants to take ownership of large and complex bids while working alongside an experienced estimating and operations team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead estimates for major heavy civil and transportation projects
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements
- Develop accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing, labor, equipment, and material estimates
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Develop competitive bids while maintaining target margins
- Identify project risks, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and operations leadership
- Assist with bid strategy, value engineering, and preconstruction planning
- Prepare bid summaries and present estimates to senior leadership
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and industry partners
- Mentor and support junior estimators as required
- 7+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction
- Strong experience with DOT/highway and transportation projects
- Background in earthwork, grading, paving, concrete, utilities, or related civil construction
- Experience preparing estimates for large, complex projects
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, production rates, and costs
- Proficiency with estimating and project management software
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- NDDOT experience is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
