Job Details- 53,000 9‑month contract, Exempt
- 40 hours per week
- This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks campus
The teaching load for this position is 5/4. The successful candidate will teach both online and traditional face‑to‑face courses at the undergraduate level, including but not limited to a combination of COMM 104 Introduction to Journalism, COMM 200 Writing for New and Traditional Media, COMM 246 News Writing Fundamentals in the Online World, COMM 305 Audio Production & Broadcasting, and COMM 326 Content Creation for Social Media.
All faculty, including the person hired for this position, are expected to contribute service to the department, including departmental outreach efforts, and to the college, university, and community. - Excellent written and oral communication skills, including evidence of the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability and willingness to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Communication.
- Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery.
- MA/MS or terminal degree in Communication or related discipline by August 15, 2026.
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
- This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.
- Professional experience in journalism, media, and/or communication industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in Journalism and Communication through academic training, scholarly activity, and/or sustained professional practice.
- Experience teaching college-level courses in Journalism, Communication, or closely related fields.
- Experience teaching a range of courses across the Journalism and Communication curriculum.
- Experience teaching online courses.
