Responsibilities- Conduct field inspections for all types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Work with equipment such as Robotic Total Station GPS and drones; use computer aided drafting software (Micro Station) to measure quantities and create reports and plan sheets for construction projects.
- Perform tests on road and bridge building materials to ensure they meet NDDOT specifications.
- Assist project engineers with checking and organizing project final records and with district design work that requires the use of Micro Station.
- Receive training and support to excel in these tasks as part of the role.
- Engineering Technician II:
At least two years of work experience related to the engineering technician duties listed. College-level coursework and/or degree in engineering or related field may substitute for required experience; materials testing is preferred. - Engineering Technician I:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and a basic understanding of the concepts needed for this type of work.
- Ability to work in all types of weather on uneven or slippery surfaces; able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry additional items totaling 50 pounds.
- Valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license required to travel to project locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and strong organizational and communication skills; passion for construction and engineering.
