Inventory Specialist
Acme Tools is looking for a naturally curious problem solver with a passion for data accuracy to join our growing Purchasing team as an Inventory Specialist. You will maintain product inventory levels, analyze sales trends, forecast demand, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Responsibilities- Collect and analyze data on sales trends for forecasting purposes.
- Develop recommendations to drive sales, improve margins, and increase inventory turns.
- Make recommendations for category inventory levels to achieve optimal profitability and maintain an in‑stock position.
- Work closely with vendor plant personnel to facilitate a timely and accurate order‑fulfillment process.
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
- Track daily sales and leverage analytical skills to identify shortage opportunities.
- Uncover root causes of inventory issues, propose solutions, and drive change.
- Complete complex projects simultaneously, meeting objectives, timeliness, and financial results.
- Generate orders to replenish stores and distribution centers.
- Track purchase orders to ensure product arrives on time and that the correct quantities are received.
- React to purchase orders that are more than seven days past due or have backorders.
- Provide stores with the correct amount of inventory to cover sales during promotion.
- Follow up orders to maintain proper inventory levels after promotion.
- A bachelor’s degree in a business field or at least 2+ years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and word processing software.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and presentation skills with the ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Knowledge of calculating figures and amounts such as profit margins, discounts, percentages, and inventory levels.
- A natural curiosity for how things work and the ability to adapt to an ever‑changing internet world.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality of all department and company information.
- Prior experience with inventory control practices and web analytics.
- Point‑of‑sale system experience working in a retail environment.
- Bonus points for tool and equipment industry knowledge.
