Program Coordinator For Refugee School Impact And Youth Mentoring Programs

Global Friends Coalition is currently seeking a program coordinator for our Refugee School Impact (RSI) and Youth Mentoring (YM) Programs. The purpose of RSI is to facilitate education access for refugee families. The YM programs goals are to promote positive civic and social engagement and support individual education and vocational advancement for Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) eligible youth.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Program Coordination:

Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program.

Plan and facilitate youth activities including: goal setting and career skills workshops, college campus tours, tours of employers/industries, and sessions on financial literacy, civic engagement, and college application processes.

Order and manage supplies required for events.

Recruit and communicate with youth participants and their families.

Communicate and coordinate with grant partners including Grand Forks Public Schools teachers and staff, ND Job Service, the City of Grand Forks, and others.

Recruit, orient, and match volunteers with RSI/YM participant youth and schools.

Work closely with the volunteer coordinator to facilitate volunteer matches from the general volunteer applicant pool.

Participate in volunteer recruitment events at UND and other opportunities.

Speak with community groups and with UND classes and clubs to explain the program and recruit volunteers.

Evaluate programming effectiveness and further needs with youth, family, and school surveys.

Participate in required and optional trainings and other educational opportunities through the state and other providers.

Develop and deliver progress updates to partners and State leaders in resettlement.

Attend quarterly RSI/YM meetings coordinated by the state to share plans, learning, and opportunities for partnerships with others.

Compliance and Documentation:

Verify and document client eligibility for receipt of services.

Track participant engagement in programs that clients are referred.

Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation for each case.

Monitor the delivery of services to ensure compliance with all program standards and requirements.

Ensure that all electronic and/or hard case files and databases are maintained and accessed in accordance with policies and guidelines.

Participate in required state calls and meetings.

Track time and personal mileage.

Team Participation:

Maintain ongoing communication with the Executive Director on the status of programs, clients, outcomes, and reports.

Maintain ongoing communication with the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff to ensure volunteer placement with youth/schools, coordinate needs, and report outcomes.

Participate in quarterly stakeholder consultation meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Commitment to welcoming refugees and all other immigrants to Greater Grand Forks.

Organizational skills and the ability to track time and expenses separately for grant funds is essential.

Valid North Dakota drivers license, auto insurance, and reliable access to personal vehicle that can transport clients.

Ability to work with people from other cultures and who speak other languages.

The ability to understand, follow, and document compliance with state and federal Refugee Support Services requirements.

Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Zoom/MS Teams, email, and the ability to learn to navigate the required database platforms).

Proficiency in basic data tracking and input (into state refugee database).

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Ability to pass a criminal, driving, and child protection screening.
