Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health – 12‑Hour Shifts

Full‑time positions eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus. Full‑time or part‑time positions available with benefits.

Horizon Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the new Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This 24‑bed inpatient unit serves adult and pediatric patients, with plans to expand to an additional 24 beds in 2026. The position is responsible for assessing, monitoring, recording and reporting symptoms or changes in patient conditions; maintaining accurate patient reports and medical histories;

performing mental and physical assessments; administering medication and treatment; providing assistance with daily activities; and observing reactions. RNs also manage activities with the therapeutic milieu, including daily groups, education, 1:1 sessions, and collaboration with the treatment team to ensure optimal care.

• Complete initial nursing assessment within 24 hours of admission and reassess routinely during patient stay.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities.
• Conduct therapies in accordance with the patient’s diagnosis and needs.
• Perform treatment interventions following physician orders (medication administration and medical treatment orders).
• Mediate medication reconciliation.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures/processes.
• Interpret nursing and treatment needs to non‑clinical staff assigned to the patient.
• Ensure patient dignity and respect patient values; provide emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends.

• State RN certification/license
• CPR, BLS, and ACLS certifications
• 1–3 years of nursing experience
• Crisis prevention experience
• Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility, and violence of others
• Ability to manage stress appropriately
• Proficiency in applicable software applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficient in mathematical and analytical skills as they apply to clinical duties
• Above‑average organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
