Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Horizon Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for our BRAND NEW unit called Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This 24-bed inpatient unit serves both adult and pediatric patients, with plans to expand to an additional 24 beds in 2026. This position is responsible for assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting symptoms or changes in patient conditions. RNs maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories, perform mental and physical assessments, administer medication and treatments, assist patients with daily activities, observe reactions, and manage therapeutic activities such as daily groups, education, and 1:1 sessions.

• Complete initial nursing assessment within 24 hours of admission and reassess routinely throughout the stay.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities.
• Conduct therapies in accordance with patient diagnosis and needs.
• Perform treatment interventions following physician orders such as medication administration and medical treatment orders.
• Perform medication reconciliation.
• Follow voluntary and involuntary procedures/protocols.
• Interpret the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to non‑clinical staff.
• Ensure patient dignity and respect, establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families, and friends.

• State RN Certification/License
• CPR, BLS and ACLS certifications
• 1–3 years of nursing experience
• Crisis prevention experience
• Ability to manage anger, fear, hostility, and violence of others
• Self‑management of stress
• Proficient in applicable software applications
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills as they apply to clinical duties
• Above‑average organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
