- This position requires onsite work at our Grand Forks, ND campus
Dr. David Delene in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a post-undergraduate student with an interest in data processing, applied research and atmospheric sciences. This is intended for people who have completed an undergraduate degree and are interested, or plan to attend graduate school.
Duties & Responsibilities: The person will support research projects and assist with preliminary work related to ongoing and upcoming research efforts. The person’s work may include the following tasks:- Assisting with gather and organize data from approved sources (public datasets, sensors, instruments, and/or model outputs).
- Assisting with alignment of datasets in time and space when needed.
- Assisting with process and analyze of datasets, creating basic plots, and running quality-control checks
- Reviewing created structured datasets.
- Reviewing document on datasets and workflows.

- Undergraduate degree
- Interest in working with undergraduates on research projects.
- Basic data-tool skills (e.g., Python coding).
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

- Comfort working in a Linux environment or using command line tools.
- Familiarity with Python for basic data processing and plotting.
- Experience creating basic figures (time series, scatter plots, histograms) and writing short summaries of results.
- Good communication skills: clear progress updates, asking questions early, and tracking tasks in a simple workflow.
