Hotel Security Guard​/Floor Host

The Hotel Security / Floor Host is responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment throughout the hotel. This position combines security responsibilities with hospitality and guest service. The Floor Host assists guests and hotel departments, monitors activity throughout the property, enforces hotel policies professionally, and responds to incidents or concerns as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the hotel, including guest-room floors, hallways, stairwells, lobby, restaurants and lounges, event spaces, entrances, waterpark areas, and exterior areas.
• Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the property.
• Assist guests with directions, questions, room deliveries, towels, and other reasonable requests.
• Respond promptly and professionally to noise complaints, disturbances, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and policy violations.
• Enforce quiet hours, alcohol policies, age restrictions, and other hotel rules consistently.
• Check identification when required and assist restaurant or lounge staff with denying entry or service when appropriate.
• Monitor bars and public areas for outside alcohol, intoxicated individuals, disruptive conduct, and unsafe behavior.
• Use calm, respectful communication and de-escalation techniques when handling difficult or upset guests.
• Provide guests with a clear warning when policies are violated and document repeated violations.
• Contact management or law enforcement when a guest refuses to comply, presents a safety concern, or must be removed from the property.
• Security employees do not carry restraints and are not expected to use physical force.
• Communicate incidents and concerns promptly to the Front Desk, management, restaurant staff, and other affected departments.
• Complete accurate and detailed incident reports before the end of the shift.
• Assist during emergencies, evacuations, fire alarms, medical situations, and other safety-related events.
• Monitor entrances and conduct exterior or parking-lot checks when operationally necessary.
• Assist with crowd control and guest flow during football games, hockey tournaments, concerts, weddings, and other major events.
• Protect hotel property and report damage, maintenance concerns, unsecured doors, lighting problems, or other hazards.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding guests, employees, incidents, and hotel operations.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Typical Noise-Complaint Procedure

• Respond to the location and professionally advise the guest of the complaint and hotel quiet-hours policy.
• Provide a clear warning and request immediate cooperation.
• Return if a second complaint is received and advise the guest that further disturbance may result in removal.
• Contact management and law enforcement when removal becomes necessary.
• Document the incident and all actions taken.

Qualifications and Expectations

• Previous experience in security, hospitality, customer service, corrections, law enforcement, healthcare, restaurants, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong communication, judgment, observation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful or confrontational situations.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable enforcing policies fairly and consistently.
• Able to prepare clear written incident reports.
• Able to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and special-event dates.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly patrol multiple floors and areas of the property.

Typical Shifts

• Evening Shift: 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
• Overnight Shift: 10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.
