Laser Weld Engineer | Grand Haven, MI
Salary Range: $84,000 - $124,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Grand Haven region seeking Laser Weld Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures for laser welding applications.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for welding defects.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
- Conduct material characterization and metallurgical analysis of welded components.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and training materials.
- Evaluate and recommend new laser welding technologies and equipment.
- Support production by troubleshooting laser welding equipment and process issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in laser welding parameters, material science, and metallurgy for various alloys.
- Strong understanding of laser safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
- Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for weld defects.
- Experience with vision systems for weld inspection and guidance.
- Familiarity with robotic programming for laser welding applications (e.g., ABB, KUKA, FANUC).
- Knowledge of metallurgy and material science related to laser welding of various alloys.
- Project management experience, particularly in leading equipment installations or process improvements.
- Understanding of NDT methods (e.g., X-ray, UT) for weld quality assessment.
