Position: 3rd Shift 10pm-6am(M-F) -->Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Technician MI

Description

INTRODUCTION:
This position reports directly to the Process Engineer (MES) and is fully accountable for the successful execution of all assigned responsibilities. The MES Technician role is classified as a “Beginner” level position, requiring a proficiency skill set in various MES-related tasks.

MES TECHNICIAN: is responsible for maintaining all areas of the plant equipped with MES systems. This role entails a variety of production floor activities, including replacing ribbons or labels on production printers. Additionally, the technician performs crucial system functions, such as data entry, which involves transferring new part numbers and Bills of Materials (BOMs) from SAP into the MES system.

In this capacity, the Technician also creates new user accounts and establishes security groups within the MES System. Troubleshooting MES system errors and implementing system updates are essential tasks, ensuring that production operations run effectively and efficiently, ultimately maximizing uptime. Plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and performance of the MES systems, thereby contributing to the overall success of the plant's production activities.

AREAS

OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include but not limited to:
  • a) Troubleshoot & resolve issues that impact the MES system to ensure smooth operations.
  • b) Monitor Squeaks and address open inquiries to prevent escalation alerts and maintain system integrity.
  • c) Manage user accounts by creating new users, assigning work areas, and granting appropriate permissions.
  • d) Help with training new employees or new processes to foster a knowledgeable workforce.
  • e) Support the department with weekly inventory management, ensuring all necessary supplies (scanners, ribbons, labels) are accounted for.
  • f) Collaborate with production teams to communicate any discrepancies in reported production from the MES system to Inventory Control and the relevant supervisors.
  • g) Maintain all MES system equipment by performing scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal performance.
  • h) Assist the Process Engineer with various projects as required, including participation in 5S and Lean initiatives to promote continuous improvement.
  • i) Integrate new SAP parts and Bill of Materials (BOMs) into MES.
  • j) Occasionally cover for different shifts due to vacations and other absences.
  • k) Perform any additional duties that may not be explicitly stated but are logically and properly inherent to this position, contributing to overall team success.
Requirements REQUIREMENTS:
  • a) Proficient level in Assist: Part, BOM, Recipe, User, Group, Instruction set, Cycle Time, Simple Serial
  • b) Experienced in Microsoft Excel; create & update spreadsheets, filter/sort and create graphs.
  • c) Ability to work independently but also able contribute to a supportive and cohesive team capacity.
  • d) High level of attention to detail with high accuracy in work. (Instruction Set Quality PPM

  • e) Advanced skillset with computers, printers, and other technology.
  • f) Able to follow direction and exhibit initiative in completing assigned tasks.
  • g) Demonstrate problem-solving ability, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • d) Experienced computer knowledge and ability; SAP, Launch Pad, Assist, Simple Serial Utility
  • g) Experience with JOST company; safety & environmental rules, Quality procedures and JOST Basic Processes.
  • h) Understanding of JOST products, processes, and customer requirements.
  • i) Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • j) Highly dependable, motivated, and self-driven with excellent attendance.
  • k) Work with Process Engineer to integrate new project updates into current processes.
  • l) Improve MES process through continuous improvement initiatives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • a) Work is generally performed both an office and in a production plant warehouse setting, with a 50% office and 50% floor presence during the first year, then to 75% office, and 25% shop floor.
  • a) While performing duties of this job, the employee will regularly; sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, twist and occasionally will be required to stoop, kneel, lift or move objects of 51 pounds or less with or without assistance.
