Position SummaryThe Accounting Assistant provides essential administrative, financial, and technical support to the Accounting Manager, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Airport Authority’s financial operations. This role is responsible for accounts receivable and payable processing, payroll support, cash management, revenue tracking, and various accounting functions critical to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable & Revenue Processing
- Process, balance, and collect accounts receivable; prepare and submit bank deposits.
- Process fuel flowage, landing fees, and property tax revenues received from the county.
- Reconcile cash receipts and maintain accurate daily cash flow reporting.
- Process, balance, and audit accounts payable transactions.
- Process airline incentives.
- Maintain vendor files and documentation to ensure IRS and State of Nebraska compliance, including COI, W-9, 1099, and tax‑exempt forms (13 and 17).
- Payroll & Reporting
- Prepare bi‑weekly payroll and assist in completing required monthly and quarterly payroll reports.
- Assist in developing operating revenue and expense budgets.
- Support the Accounting Manager in implementing financial goals and related initiatives.
- Maintain inventory and asset logs for equipment and vehicles.
- Provide general departmental support, including filing, recordkeeping, and organizational tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall department operations.
- Knowledge of accounting and finance principles; public or business administration practices.
- Knowledge of effective written and verbal communication strategies.
- Knowledge of standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting systems.
- Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to accurately manage numerical and financial data with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to operate computers, 10‑key calculators, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Two to three years of accounting or related experience preferred.
- Associate degree in accounting or business administration preferred.
- Experience with Quick Books Pro and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Completion of driver safety training.
- Successful background check as required by Homeland Security.
- Pre‑employment and random drug testing.
Reports directly to the Accounting Manager; this position has no supervisory responsibilities.
