Protective is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented professional to support profit-sharing retrospective programs within the Asset Protection Division (APD). As part of the Participation Accounting team, this role is responsible for the calculation, reconciliation, reporting, and administration of profit-sharing arrangements while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer and reconcile profit-sharing retrospective program accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate, validate, and support the timely processing of profit-sharing payouts in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Analyze financial and operational data to monitor program performance and identify trends, variances, or discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation, schedules, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to research issues, resolve discrepancies, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, controls, and data integrity.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts, including GAAP.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and reconcile large datasets.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple assignments independently.
- Knowledge of profit-sharing, participation accounting, or retrospective financial programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting, finance, financial analysis, or program analysis experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience interpreting financial data and performing account reconciliations.
- Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- 3+ years of accounting, finance, participation accounting, or insurance-related financial analysis experience.
- Experience supporting profit-sharing, retrospective rating, participation accounting, or similar insurance programs.
- Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle.
- CPA, CPA candidate, or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working successfully in a remote or virtual environment.
$52,500 - $70,000 a year
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $52,500 to $70,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
The internal title for this role is Analyst General Accounting.
