EHS Administrative Coordinator Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Institutional Biosafety Committee and biosafety program, with secondary support for the radiation safety and laser safety programs and committees.
- Schedule committee meetings, prepare and distribute agendas and minutes.
- Assist Principal Investigators in preparing and submitting protocols, including navigating the online submission portal.
- Monitor due dates, review and process protocol amendments and update forms, and communicate with Principal Investigators to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain and update supporting databases with current and accurate information.
- Assist biosafety staff in scheduling campus audits, maintaining records, and communicating audit findings.
- Support biosafety staff in assembling and maintaining records associated with the Select Agent program.
- Coordinate occupational health requirements for the biosafety program, including scheduling and monitoring billing.
- Monitor, route, and respond to departmental and program email inquiries.
- Review and process Material Transfer Agreements and Sponsored Programs inquiries related to protocol status for potential grant activities.
- Associate’s degree in Life Sciences, other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 1+ year of administrative experience in a related role.
- Familiar with scientific terminology related to experiments, materials, protocols, and material transfer agreements.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Proficient in utilizing technology.
- Adaptable and flexible to handle unexpected changes in priorities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
- Pre‑placement driving record review required.
- Physical requirement:
No. - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre‑employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
- Criminal history background check required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular‑Biology, or other related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations/standards pertaining to laboratory safety, ionizing radiation, and/or biosafety.
