Job Summary:
The Commercial Project Manager serves a function within both the sales and engineering functions of the organization. They will primarily ensure that all jobs sold have all necessary materials and supplies necessary at the job site when needed. May perform some basic sales functions and communicate with both contractors, customers and engineering staff. Handles coordination and resolution of issues between customers, framers, general contractors and internal sales and engineering staff.
Also, will assist engineering as necessary in performing estimates and take-offs. May work with purchasing staff to procure special items as necessary.
- Assists with the sales of lumber yard products to customers.
- Works with estimating staff to provide quotes. May present bids to customers or internal staff.
- Proposes new products and acquisitions that will ensure attainment of long-range corporate goals.
- Assists in elimination of product when in the best interests of the company.
- Research potential market trends and competition.
- Reads quote sheets and verifies customer requirements for specific projects; designs preliminary truss drawings.
- Ensures all materials and supplies are at the job site during construction phase. Works with relevant internal and external staff to resolve issues during the construction phase.
- Delivers necessary materials and supplies to job site if not already delivered with the building package. May pick up and return excess materials and supplies from job sites as necessary.
- Use Microsoft Excel and CAD software to draw basic design layouts, elevations and package project estimates.
- Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
- Obtains profitable orders to forecast.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Must have ability to operate independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds.
- Occasionally may be required to walk throughout the yard, production environment or job sites to perform some aspects of assigned duties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge/understanding of CAD software preferred.
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in construction or framing.
- Solid understanding of construction methods.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft software.
- Proficient with mathematical computation in geometry methods.
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, primarily for day trips.
